Side quests range from traveling to a certain point to find a lost item or clearing out monsters from a cave, to multiple-part quests covering a specific NPC story, such as one notable, four-part quest early in the game that sees you put the spirit of an ancient cat necromancer to rest. Most of these are exclusive to a certain village or city as well, which helps provide character to the otherwise very similar village designs, so it's worth a return visit or five to see what else might be available on the message board. Like any good, modern RPG, Cat Quest features a bevy of side missions, although they aren't as peripheral as you might first think (more about that later). Side Quests: Front and Centerīut there's plenty to distract you from that objective. In keeping with the developers' design philosophy, it doesn't ever take long to travel across large portions of the map either, making it fast and simple to arrive at your next objective. For most quests, an elaborate medieval-style white arrow serves as your map marker, pointing you in the right direction some tracking-style missions have you following a red dotted line laid out for you thanks to Spirry's advanced sensory capabilities. ProgressionĪfter the game's quick opening sequences, you can almost immediately wander the entire world, although it's a good idea to follow Spirry's advice and head to your next objective point. The idea was to create a streamlined RPG that offered the best of the genre without all the extra trappings to bog players down. The Gentlebros drew inspiration from a variety of open-world RPGs to craft their new outing, combining overworld map exploration with open-world adventuring, with a dose of Zelda-esque combat and, of course, plenty of cat charm. If the basic setup sounds a lot like The Elder Scrolls, it's supposed to. What are you supposed to do with the monsters in there? "Wipe them out…all of them." Along with that come several fourth-wall-breaking moments, including a Star Wars Episode III reference when venturing into one of the game's mini-dungeons. For example, when Drakoth first reveals his motives for reviving the dragons, Spirry remarks how bland and generic he is for a villain. It's not afraid to poke fun at genre tropes, either. The story contains some interesting twists and turns, but it remains a lighthearted tail-er, tale-throughout. You soon discover you're one of the Dragonblood, a cat with the ability to fight dragons and keep the world safe. Cat Quest centers around the nameless hero and his spunky spirit guide Spirry on their quest to rescue the hero's catnapped sister from the evil Drakoth, a cat who brings the power of dragons back to the world Felingard.

Revisited this at 2 recently and had to teach it, so sat down and read the manual (which didn't seem good?). Troyes - I had a disastrous first play of this game years ago, where I basically scored no points and finished the game without really understanding what was going on. Mini-game style Euros tend to be pretty hit or miss with me. Still, it had some fun clever plays and interesting chaining. I do find the theme interesting, but I don't think that's enough to carry it for me. I think there's other games I'd rather play in that timeframe/interactivity level, but I wouldn't not play it. There's nothing offensive going on here and the card exchange mechanic is fairly interesting. Gugong - First play with this game and I think this is one of the few games I walked away from feeling nothing about. It had a bit of skull sweat, but not too much, and some really interesting decision spaces. Then we played a second time, and it took off for me! Really enjoyed the trade mechanic, as well as the way everything worked together. It's not a deeply involved game, but the initial learning curve and when you can take actions need a bit of explanation for someone new. We played one game and got a lot of rules wrong. And the last game, which we played twice, was a recommendation from a forum member here! I found an intact copy of the American issue of Oltre Mare. It was a treat to play that for 4-player. ) We also played Century: Eastern Wonders, first time for them, and I lost handily to everyone. I won to my surprise! Really happy to get that back to the table and can't wait for my Big Box version to arrive. We played several games including Petrichor. I currently have an ongoing game of Welcome To with 12 people, an Agricola Revised Edition with 4 players and drafting, and am starting an obscure game Armadora since a friend wants to learn it.įinally, going back to a week Sunday since I didn't post about it here, friends came over for the first time since the pandemic started - although I've seen them at other friends houses so it wasn't an 18 month gap. Not sure if I like Race more just because I learned it first. I also got my third play of New Frontiers, the board game inspired by Race for the Galaxy. I want to play it again and someday try it on tabletop. I did not understand how it worked to try to win, however I certainly appreciate how it works. Second, a couple of asymmetrically played games ended, and new ones started, on BoardGameArena. Disappointing that certain Missions seem unbeatable. The new version of Toon Boom Studio offers annotation layers for better communication with and feedback from clients and colleagues. The Toon Boom Studio interface is not intuitive, but once you go through one or two of the tutorials, the navigation makes more sense. There are numerous icons that offer up a range of controls, many of which only become active once your project has begun. It closely resembles Adobe Flash in many ways with its clean white palettes and array of panels. Upon initial launch, the Toon Boom Studio 5 interface seems simplistic. The Toon Boom Studio 5 interface looks simple at first, but offers a large amount of animation control. If you’re not a traditional sketch artist, the new stop-motion feature is perfect for you. From there, you can add unique visuals, and even audio. Take your digital camera and photograph the minatures over time and bring them into Toon Boom to animate. Let’s say you’re more of a real world modeler and have created miniatures you’d like to bring to life. You can animate with motion paths as well as audio, and you can animate the camera in real time. You can paint art work and add it to your drawings, or even paint over your imported files. With this software, you can draw, scan, import, or capture artwork and video, then animate it in any number of ways. The cut-out feature is like grabbing various elements and compositing them together. Toon Boom Studio 5 however offers infinite possibilities with easy-to-use stop-motion, traditional paper, or digital animation, and even cut-out and rotoscoping. Many of us have tried our hand at stop-motion with in-camera techniques or perhaps clever editing. So many artists today want to venture into the animation world but either don’t have the hand-drawing artistic capabilities or the time and resources to learn 3-D animation. Sleep in the forests and don’t get radiatedĭo not do the same mistake I did and think about sleeping as unnecessary in a game, because this is as real as it gets. It’s really worth the time spend cooking because if you think about the bigger picture, in the time you would spend resting and unable to do anything because of a damn piece of chicken, you could have looted so much. You need to purify the water by boiling it before drinking, and that will, too, prevent you from contacting diseases and illnesses. If you eat raw food you will have a harder time resting and staying healthy, so it is best if possible to have a fire going and cook. This will keep you safe from disease, as well as satisfy your hunger much better. It doesn’t have to be a Gordon Ramsay special dish, just cook your food on a fire and you’re good to go. We’re all humans, so you know we don’t really like raw meat and dirty water. Keep looting until you run into one and that will provide more space for you to keep your stuff in. If an apocalypse happened IRL you wouldn’t want to be the first one to go just because of starvation.Īnother thing to look out for is a backpack. That should be your number one priority in any scenario. The first thing you need to keep an eye out when looting these spots is food. If you go on ahead and loot them, remember to not fall prey to exhaustion tho. It’s best if at first you go around the map and check the surroundings to see all the possibly lootable places, and remember what you can get from each. So take your time and explore the maps, the buildings, gather resources, because every little rock you add to your inventory will matter later on. Why hurry when you can enjoy yourself a little? Afterall, you’re part of a post-apocalyptic scenario now, right? No jobs, no taxes, no schedule. There is a trial version which allows you to stream for 10 minutes and after that it broadcasts some white noise over your audio, but it should suffice to test before buying it. There seem to be no buffering options in itunes for streaming over airplay. Apparently airfoil has a better buffering system so it can stream over airplay without ever stuttering. AirFoil now has full iPad Retina support along with AirPlay streaming Rogue Amoebas AirFoil started out as a way to stream any non-iTunes audio to your. Frequently, the music is cut and doesnt restart automatically. I solved this by installing airfoil on the windows machine as well and just let itunes play through airfoil. I use my mac (on maverick) with an airplay speaker and I have a some disconnection problems. With my mbp i never had any stuttering issues using airfoil, the laptop however had lots of problems (it WAS using itunes for windows). Airfoil is basically a product that allows you to stream any kind of audio produced by your device to an airplay enabled device. Airfoil Speakers Touch was removed from the App Store on May 24th, specifically for its Enhanced Audio Receiving feature which turned your iPhone or iPod into an AirPlay receiver. Since i hate itunes so much i got rid of it on my macbookpro, instead i use vlc/spotify combined with airfoil. My mbp uses wireless N and the laptop uses wireless G. I have an appletv2 and a macbookpro and my better half has a laptop with win7 on it. Mode 2 ShairPort Output This is an AirPlay emulator that utilizes streams sent to it from a compatible source.
